Angels in Waiting

Below are APRA Pugs currently in foster care receiving medical care before being deemed "adoptable." This is where our medical expenses and daily care needs become enormous. Please remember us in your prayers, and PLEASE support your local rescue organizations. We can only continue to do this with your support.

Alabama Pug Rescue and Adoption, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization.

We continue to make a
difference only with your support!

The number of dogs that must remain in foster care for an extended period of time is sadly increasing.  Many of these dogs are on prescription diets for their specific conditions.  If you can help by providing dog food coupons, or a make a donation to assist with their daily care needs please contact pugsrescued@aol.com.  We would be more than happy to provide a list of those foods in need upon request.

For the Sake of Eli become educated about the need for the prevention of heartworm disease. It is your responsibility for the rest of their life.

Riggs

Update: After surgery last summer for a  pancreatic abscess Riggs is beginning to finally enjoy good health as his diabetes is brought under control.  If all goes well, Riggs will be available for adoption in early 2010.

Riggs underwent emergency surgery for a pancreatic abscess on August 11th. After numerous attempts to regulate his diabetes, he was found to have chronic pancreatitis, which we feel has caused all of his problems. Every day now is a miracle for him as he remains hospitalized. Please help us to assure he has all he will need to regain his health.

Dokie

“Dokie” arrived paralyzed and underwent surgery on August 4th to allow him to stand, and he is already beginning to walk. He has a long road ahead of him and will remain in rescue indefinitely.

Mr. Moody

Mr. Moody was “rescued” by an angel of a veterinarian who took him in and contacted APRA. Emaciated (he only had 4 teeth), Mr. Moody is heartworm positive. The special senior has just captured the hearts of all who have met him. Heartworm treatmet will begin in early August.

Bubba

A picture says 1000 words. This 14-year old boy was surrendered when his owner was moving out of the country. Now wrapped in the arms of his “forever” foster mom, we won’t move him again. Bubba is one of the reasons we need your continued support. The dogs always come first and if it is in the best interest of the rest of their life, they will remain in the loving “arms” of Alabama Pug Rescue and Adoption, Inc. Please consider making a donation to allow us to continue to provide for those such as this very special senior.

Gracee

Her name is Gracee, short for Amazing Grace. Amazing that she is alive given the fact she has two broken hips and a broken leg, injuries that happened weeks ago after being hit by a car.

Thankfully a caring veterinary clinic took steps to give her the choice of rescue when the owner’s choice was euthanasia. We need your support to provide all this angel will need. Donations are at an all time low while the need for rescue is at an all time high. Please help us to make a difference in the lives of so many we represent.

Georgie

Georgie came to us after years of allergy issues. She at one time was given allergy shots, but situations in her home changed and she was no longer able to be cared for properly. After researching her allergies, we are finding that Georgie is greatly improving with a special diet and daily medication - NO shots at this point! We are hopeful that with time we will able be able to have her in tip-top shape and easy to maintain!!
